As I age I am more and more determined to give back to my community and leave this world better than I found it. I spend most of my time teaching meditation, QiGong and Tai Chi. My focus is Insight Meditation, working with mindfulness techniques developed over 35 years of practice. I have never been interested in martial arts, but have been practicing Tai Chi for 12 years, teaching for the past 5 years. My goal has always been strength, resilience and better balance. When I began teaching I incorporated QiGong routines as warm-up exercises, and have gradually deepened my interest in Chinese medicine and mindful movement.
Recently I have been teaching a simple form called Tai Chi Movement for Better Balance, designed for the elder population and endorsed by the Center for Disease Control as a tool in falls prevention. Bringing a mindful approach to balance and movement, my classes incorporate meditation, mindful movement and therapeutic drills. Over time we try to build an integrated approach to a healthy body and mind, inspired by spiritual discipline.
